And you're right, there is a capacity we have for empathy that comes maybe not from having had the very same experience but something like it. When we can access that similar experience and remember the pain, feel it again and then extend ourselves to others from that wounded place, we can be useful to them and to God's intentions for healing. I'm so glad we could connect at that level. I love what you said about having "some kind of faith" -- exactly! And your courage, then and now, was and still is an enormous source of strength, hope and inspiration to me! Your graciousness all along the way is a gift to all of us! And I so love the courageous and gracious woman you are. Peace!Jan Eriksson-Perssonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01408622728934931924noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8383864695433359146.post-75107748202833092932009-08-04T17:59:55.111-06:002009-08-04T17:59:55.111-06:00Jan, never minimize the care giving you did in you...Jan, never minimize the care giving you did in your "former" life. As a recipent of that care I can tell you it never felt like you were keeping a "safe, antiseptic" a distance in the intentional care you offered to me and many others. From you, among other things, I learned the language that gave clairty to my experience. Your willingness to be available was a gift. So if you now KNOW with a sharper vision... that enhances the care you have already given years ago. Tthat is not to be forgotten or dismissed. I am today, a woman of courage and some kind of faith partly because of your care those years ago. Keep on Jan, keep on!Jan Carlsonnoreply@blogger.com
